If you've never tried this luxurious, foamy beverage before, you're definitely missing out on a true rainy day treat. London Fogs, as they are commonly known, are a hot drink which is thought to have originated in Vancouver, BC. The creator remains unknown to this day, though not for a lack of individuals wanting to claim it as their own brilliant brain child.
One claim comes from Buckwheat Cafe on 4th Avenue in Vancouver (now closed). As the story goes, in December 1996 a pregnant customer asked the barista for an alternate to her usual caffeine-heavy latte. The clever barista swapped out the espresso shot for Earl Grey Tea....and thus, a legend was born. The Vancouver favourite is now common throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Washington and Oregon, and is quickly spreading beyond like a thick blanket of fog over the River Thames.
