Parabens

Parabens have been the source of controversy recently, with people sitting in either the ‘For’ and ‘Against’ camps. Here at Rocky, we sit in the latter.

Parabens are firmly in our Red List of never used materials. The chemicals are very easily absorbed into the skin through cosmetic use and are known to interfere with hormone function in women, and possibly also in men, as they mimic estrogen in the body. There have also been potential links made between parabens and breast cancer, as they have been found in breast cancer tissue. Parabens have also been linked to premature skin aging and DNA damage.

At Rocky, our philosophy is that if we’re not sure that something is safe over the long-haul, then why use it? Especially when there are amazing natural ingredients offered by our planet that can keep us clean, moisturized and smelling delightful.
